Department Overview

Gas Investments for the Future (GIF) is part of the Gas Strategy Execution and System Planning (GSESP) organization, which addresses PG&E's True North Strategy call for boldly shaping the future. PG&E's gas strategy seeks to evolve the natural gas pipeline and storage system to be an affordable energy delivery platform consistent with decarbonization goals.

GIF ensures PG&E invests prudently in its natural gas system for the long term, with a focus on implementing opportunities to retire natural gas assets and downrate transmission pipelines in lieu of traditional asset risk mitigation methods, where it is cost-effective and while still providing reliable gas service to customers. GIF also houses the Alternative Energy Program (AEP) which provides incentive payments to customers to convert their natural gas service to other energy sources, primarily electricity, enabling natural gas assets to be retired cost effectively.

GIF’s mission is critical to PG&E’s gas strategy and targets the following outcomes:

• Reduced greenhouse gas emissions

Position Summary

 

Responsible for performing the GIF planning engineer responsibilities of the GIF process. Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and implement recommended gas system investment alternatives. Perform quality assurance of gas system planning hydraulic analyses and documentation. Perform investment alternatives analysis. Provide planning engineering support to the AEP program, as needed.

 

Location is flexible within the PG&E Service Territory. Please note hiring leader will make final decision of what are appropriate headquarters for the role based on business need.

 

Position will require up to 15% of travel time in work schedule.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​
