<p>HEAnet - Senior Network Engineer - two (2) year fixed term contract (hybrid) </p> <p><br/></p> <p>HEAnet is Ireland’s National Research and Education Network, providing internet connectivity and ICT shared services across all levels of the Irish education system, reaching 1,000,000 end users. We connect learners and researchers across all of Ireland to education resources and to fellow national educational and research networks in Europe, and the rest of the world.  </p> <p><br/></p> <p>We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Network Engineer to join our Networks Team on a two (2) year fixed term contract.  </p> <p> </p> <p>This role is based in our office in Dublin 1; however, we have a hybrid work framework in place which will allow you to do some work from home if you choose to do so.</p> <p><br/></p> <p>What the Networks Team does</p> <p>The Networks Team rests within the wider Technical Services function and is responsible for the day-to-day management, support and development of HEAnet’s network. Our responsibilities centre around maintaining connectivity, services, and colocation to our clients.</p> <p>  </p> <p>What the Senior Networks Engineer does</p> <p>As a member of the HEAnet Networks Team reporting to the Networks Team Manager, Senior Network Engineers are responsible both for ensuring day-to-day operations are carried out successfully, as well as participating in or leading Network Development projects, such as hardware refreshes, topology redesigns and network automation.</p> <p><br/></p> <p>Day-to-day operations can involve substantial client, vendor and peer interactions and regular communications with telecoms network and network equipment providers. There will also be requirements to assist with visitor escorts, installation and de-installation of equipment at client locations and <em>“Point’s of Presence”</em> (PoPs) nationwide. </p> <p><br/></p> <p>Advanced troubleshooting and problem resolution is a core responsibility for Senior Network Engineers, as is contributing to configuration, management and maintenance of network equipment, the testing of new and existing networks systems as well as maintaining documentation for all changes and systems deployed.</p> <p><br/></p> <p>The successful candidate will take part in an out of hours NOC duty rotation, shared with other members of HEAnet technical services.</p> <p><br/></p> <p>Training will be provided (a mixture of formal and on-the-job) with ample opportunity to explore new technologies and propose innovative solutions to problems.   </p> <p><br/></p> <p>Our Networks Operation Centre is supported by our Service Desk.
