Job Description

We're looking for an experienced Field Service Engineer to join our team in Indianapolis, United States. In this role, you will deliver expert technical service and support for our gas analysis systems while driving aftermarket growth and customer success. You will work independently and collaboratively in the field, performing complex installations, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities, while serving as a trusted technical advisor to customers. This position offers the opportunity to combine deep technical expertise with business development and continuous improvement in a dynamic, customer-focused environment.

**Technical Service Delivery**

 

  • Install, commission, calibrate, test, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain gas analyzers, sample handling systems, and related instrumentation at customer sites and selected in-house locations
  • Perform Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), startup activities, and post-installation performance verification to ensure system readiness and compliance
  • Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, technical manuals, and quality documentation to diagnose system issues efficiently and safely
  • Support pre-shipment system build verification and technical readiness in collaboration with engineering and manufacturing teams
  • Prepare accurate service, commissioning, calibration, and failure analysis reports in line with quality, regulatory, and customer requirements

 

**Customer Success and Commercial Impact**

 

  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor to customers by identifying reliability risks, asset performance gaps, deferred maintenance exposures, and upgrade opportunities
  • Support the growth of long-term service revenue by promoting preventive maintenance agreements, calibration programs, spare parts, modernization packages, and value-added service offerings
  • Partner with sales and aftermarket teams to develop technical scopes, service quotations, and solution recommendations that align customer needs with profitable business outcomes
  • Capture, qualify, and document service-generated leads in CRM systems, ensuring timely handoff and follow-through with commercial stakeholders
  • Provide technical training to customers, distributors, and internal teams to improve product adoption, safe operation, and lifecycle value

 

**Operational Excellence, Safety, and Compliance**

 

  • Execute all work in accordance with company safety standards, customer site procedures, and relevant regulatory requirements, including OSHA-aligned practices and site-specific permit processes
  • Maintain strong discipline in documentation, quality systems, inventory coordination, and service planning/forecasting activities
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, operations, quality, customer support, and commercial leadership to improve service performance and customer outcomes
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, Lean, and service productivity initiatives focused on first-time-fix rates, response times, and margin performance

 

Qualifications

**Required Qualifications:**

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related technical discipline; equivalent combination of technical education and directly relevant field experience may also be considered
  • Typically 3–7 years of experience in field service, commissioning, technical support, instrumentation, process analyzers, or related industrial equipment environments
  • Strong working knowledge of electronics, industrial instrumentation, calibration principles, and electrical fault finding
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in customer-facing environments with a high level of professionalism, judgment, and accountability
  • Proficiency in reading schematics, technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and process documentation
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and service documentation systems; experience with SAP, ERP, CRM, or Salesforce is an asset
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and ability to travel extensively within the United States

**Preferred Qualifications:**

  • Experience supporting analytical instrumentation, gas analyzers, laser-based measurement technologies, process control equipment, or related systems
  • Industry exposure in oil & gas,
