Consultant (Mechanical Engineer)

Founded in 1967, Applied Technical Services, Inc. has established a reputation with business, industry, and the legal profession for successfully uncovering facts in Metallurgy and Materials Testing, Chemical Analysis, Non-destructive Testing, Forensic and Consulting Engineering, Fire and Explosion Investigations, and Calibration Services. ATS has over 2,000 employees across 90 locations in the US. We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer to work as a consultant to customers in the field of mechanical integrity.

 

Job Responsibilities:

The Consultant would primarily be responsible for performing inspections and

evaluations of industrial equipment (e.g. power generation, chemical, paper mills,

etc.) as follows:

• Perform field inspections of industrial equipment (storage tanks, pressure

vessels, piping systems, rotating equipment).

• Generate calculations in accordance with API, ASME, etc.

• Generate written reports

• Develop ACAD drawings

• Manage Projects ranging from $60,000 - $100,000

• Manage field technicians

• Prepare reports

• Manage client relationships

 

Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering

Technology or possibly Materials Engineering

• Entry level to 5 years of experience in tank, vessel and piping integrity

assessment, design and / or MI program management

• Hands-on experience of any kind

• Strong verbal and written communications skills

• Dependable, team oriented, and have a positive attitude

• Familiarity with standard construction codes and processes

• Willing to travel up to 50%

• Proficient in MS Office

• Ability and willingness to meet the physical demands of climbing ladders

and scaffolds, entering and working in confined spaces and often working

outdoors in an industrial environment

Preferred (but not required) Skills and Experience:

• Any of the following certifications: API-510, API-653, API-570, STI, CWI

• 2+ years of experience in Mechanical Integrity
