Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer / Sr Principal Mechanical Engineer. This position is located in Roy, UT or Huntsville, AL and supports the Sentinel program. 

What You’ll Get To Do: 

• Responsible for overseeing and coordinating mechanical systems design 

• Evaluating mechanical systems, products, components, and applications by reviewing designs. 

• Ensures product quality by reviewing mechanical designs and validating that current standards are applied. 

• Supports the delivery of Mechanical Systems design Technical Data Packages, as-built TDPs, PDPs, interface models, and additional design artifacts 

• Supporting structured trade studies to evaluate alternative design solutions to resolve technical issues 

• Developing and presenting design change requests, coordinating with impacted internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring configuration control of the technical baseline. 

• Identifying risks and opportunities associated with or driven by design factors and executing handling/mitigation/capture actions to reduce risk or realize opportunities. 

• Developing and maturing Mechanical System designs that meet Weapon System requirements, UFC, MIL-STD, and other applicable codes and regulations.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package. 

 

You’ll Bring These Qualifications: 

This requisition may be filled at either the Principal Mechanical Engineer level (T03) or Sr Principal Mechanical Engineer level (T04).

• Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of experience, or 3 years of experience with a Master's degree; 4
