Role Summary:
The Vice President Tax and Customs is responsible for the management and direction of the U.S. Tax and Customs functions of the VWGOA Group (all brands, all business units) and the tax function of the Volkswagen Canada Group. The SVP Tax and Customs will establish and implement the company’s tax policies and strategies consistent with the overall VWAG Group Tax and Customs Policies.
Role Responsibilities:
- Develop supportable tax planning ideas and opportunities that will minimize cash tax and the effective tax rate
- Serve as subject matter tax and customs expert for the business units
- Manage federal, state and Canadian income/sales/property/excise tax compliance
- Manage the federal, state and foreign tax audit process, including negotiations of audit settlements
- Ensure the Company is in compliance with local transfer pricing regulations and documentation requirements
- Review of indirect tax compliance such as sales/use tax, excise tax, property tax, GST/HST/QST
- Manage an effective Tax and Customs team that consistently delivers value added services to the business units that increase shareholder value
- Identify and execute opportunities for process improvements and efficient use of resources within the global organization as they impact tax planning and structuring
- Review the preparation of quarterly and annual income tax provisions, tax attributes, effective tax rates and related financial statement disclosures
- Oversee the process for evaluating and pursuing various tax incentives and credits at the federal, state, and local levels
- Ensure all tax process control documentation, tax policies and procedures, and disclosure controls are effective, maintained, and updated in accordance with legal requirements and Company standards
- Timely communicate tax legislative changes to the business units, management, and the VWAG Tax Department

- Bachelor's degree; CPA
