(Intertek-PSI) is searching for a Geotechnical Special Project Manager to join our Building & Construction team in our Houston, Texas office.  This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in the architectural, engineering, and construction (A/E/C) industry!

How you’ll make an impact at Intertek:

  • Performs a variety of assignments that include evaluations using standard techniques, procedures and criteria; using judgment to make minor adoptions and modifications during work.
  • Prepares preliminary geotechnical reports for projects as per specifications. 
  • Prepares preliminary scopes, budgets, and schedules for task assignments.
  • Prepares TxDOT work assignments and task orders.
  • Attends client site meetings.
  • Communicates effectively with client and project teams.
  • Works on one or multiple projects at a time.
  • May perform on-site observations or inspections.
  • Must be aware of, and adhere to, safety practices and policies to ensure your own safety, as well as the safety of others who may be affected by your actions at work.

What it takes to be successful in this role:

  • Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering degree is required
  • Experience with geotechnical engineering modeling using FEA (Plaxis or similar) is required
  • Proficiency in engineering software in discipline (GeoStudio, LPILE, GROUP, SHAFT, SLIDE, Settle3D and MSEW) is required
  • 5 years' progressive experience on TxDOT projects is required
  • PE License is required
  • Effective communication skills (written, verbal and listening) and solid interpersonal skills are required
  • The ability to read and understand work plans is required
  • Must be able to work off shift and overtime as needed
  • May travel up to 15% of time
