Glimpse of the Job

The Postdoctoral Research Associate will conduct and publish original interdisciplinary research in the domain of virtual reality applications for pain and rehabilitation under the supervision of the PI. The major areas of research include chronic low back pain and spinal cord injury. The major duties associated with this role will include generating novel experimental concepts, designing and programming experiments, analyzing data, interpreting results, and writing research manuscripts to be submitted to peer-review journals. Grant-writing mentorship will be provided. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will also be playing a supporting role in ongoing research projects and assisting with the mentorship of junior lab members. 

Opportunities to Contribute

  • Design and program experiments related to research areas.

  • Generate novel experiment concepts.

  • Write and edit research manuscripts.

  • Analyze data.

  • Interpret results.

  • Support additional ongoing projects within the Lab.

  • Assist with mentorship of junior lab members (Research Assistants, Graduate Assistants, Student Research Assistants, etc.)

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Psychology, Communication, Neuroscience, Rehabilitation Science, Computer Science, or related field.

A well-qualified candidate will also possess:

  • Strong publication record.

  • Previous experience with virtual reality and pain/rehabilitation/disability research.

  • Research interests that compliment those of the PI.

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected candidate's education and experience.

Special Note: This position is funded from grant and/or contract funding, which is renewed through provisions of the grantor of the contract. Therefore, this position is contingent upon continuation of funding from these grants and/or contracts, as well as satisfactory job performance.
