Collins Aerospace is seeking a highly motivated professional to join our Chula Vista California based Commodity Management team as a Commodity Manager for machining parts.  You are a dynamic self-starter experienced in managing a portfolio of supplier contracts.   You will be interested in supporting our Advanced Structures Supply Chain business initiatives ranging from developing sourcing strategies, negotiating plans for new awards, and administering existing long-term agreements. You will have the opportunity to develop relationships with several significant supplier accounts. You are an excellent communicator that will develop strong relationships to ensure suppliers and the commodity are performing to Collins delivery, quality, and cost requirements.

This position is working onsite 5 days per week at our Chula Vista CA facility

Primary Responsibilities

  • Executes commodity account management and strategic sourcing strategy

  • Implements supply chain strategies

  • Negotiates or awards contracts within specified spending limits and develops new qualified sources of supply

  • Partners with internal clients and stakeholders to identify sourcing needs and improve sourcing strategy

  • Analyzes suppliers' operations to determine factors that affect prices and lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules

  • Responsible for overall relationship with one or multiple strategic accounts across given suppliers

  • Ensures supplier is performing to the designed Collins requirements from delivery, quality, and cost perspective

  • Drives low-cost supplier sourcing, business cash improvements and supplier consolidation activities

  • Evaluate market conditions to maintain inventory levels and control costs and make recommendations for cost reduction

  • Act as an owner of product transitions between suppliers, coordinating technical meetings between multiple entities

  • Coordinate supplier improvement activities including continuous improvement (CI) events,

  • Organize, lead, and manage supplier meetings regarding strategic initiatives, new work placed at the supplier, performance issues (cost, delivery, and quality) and routine program or business reviews.

  • Approximately up to 25% travel domestically and internationally as circumstances permit

Basic Qualifications

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience

  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required

  • Current experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite

  • Experience Financial analysis such as quote comparisons

  • Experience with supplier negotiations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SAP

  • Strong data analysis skill

  • Project management experience

  • Ability to understand drawings and technical materials and process specifications

  • Strong presentation skills

  • A deep understanding of strategic sourcing within manufacturing
