Job Title: Business Analyst
Clearance Required: Public Trust – Federal Client requires US Citizenship
Work Location: Remote, Arlington, VA

Alpha Omega is seeking a qualified Business Analyst for a remote position on a Federal program in Alexandria, Virginia.

The candidate will be responsible for analyzing financial data, identifying trends, defining requirements and providing insights into driving business decisions. This role bridges the gap between finance and business operations to ensure data-driven strategies and financial integrity across the platform development.

The purpose of this project is to develop and support the Client solution on their Azure platform and enable the retirement of the legacy systems. Services will be divided into two primary workstreams for (1) Assessment Operations and Compliance and (2) Automation of Manual Treasury Processes.

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Requirements Gathering
    • Interview stakeholders (e.g., users, managers, clients) to understand their needs.
    • Facilitate workshops, surveys, and observation to collect information.
    • Analyze business processes to identify problems and improvement opportunities.
  • Documenting Requirements
    • Write clear and detailed Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) or User Stories (in Agile).
    • Define functional (what the software should do) and non-functional (performance, security, usability) requirements.
  • Communication Between Teams
    • Act as a liaison between stakeholders and the development team.
    • Translate business needs into technical language and vice versa.
    • Help developers understand the "why" behind features.
  • Validation and Verification
    • Ensure the final software meets the original requirements.
    • Help with User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by preparing test cases and coordinating feedback from users.
  • Supporting the Development Process
    • Work closely with Product Owners, Project Managers, and QA Engineers.
    • Help prioritize the product backlog (in Agile).
    • Clarify requirements during development sprints.
  • Business Process Modeling
    • Use tools like flowcharts, UML diagrams, or BPMN to visually map out processes.
    • Ensure that the software supports efficient workflows.

Required Qualifications:

Education:            

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Marketing, Information Systems Management, (Master's or MBA preferred).

Experience/Skills:

  • Federal Client requires US Citizenship.
  • Three or more years of Business Analyst experience – preferably in a financial regulatory or banking environment.
  • Greater than 5 years of work experience with progressively increasing responsibility.
  • Proficiency in Excel, financial modeling, and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Federal agency experience capturing requirements for large financial system development
  • Excellent communication (Oral and written) and presentation abilities.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with product owners (Stakeholders) in the capturing of requirements and use cases
  • Team foundation Server (TFS)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in Agile development teams and methodology
  • GitHub

Salary and Benefit Information:

The likely salary range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position and could fall outside of this range.
