SimBioSys is a TechBio company deploying a combination of artificial intelligence, data science, and spatial biophysics to redefine precision medicine, transform patient care, and defeat cancer. SimBioSys is seeking an experienced Director of Software Engineering to lead and manage the team and development of our software applications. As the Head of Software Engineering, you will be responsible for leading a team of software engineers in the development of advanced AI – Driven surgical planning tool. The ideal candidate will be experienced in the development of applications for regulated environments including FDA and HIPAA.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Team Management: Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, CE Marking, ISO 13485, HIPAA) throughout the software development lifecycle. Implement and maintain secure development and quality assurance processes.
  • Strategic Planning: Contribute to the strategic planning of technology and product roadmaps in alignment with business goals. Identify emerging technologies and market trends for potential integration.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, regulatory affairs, and marketing, to ensure product alignment with customer needs and market requirements.
  • Budget and Resource Management: Manage the engineering budget and allocate resources effectively to meet project timelines and objectives.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Ensure thorough documentation of software development processes and maintain comprehensive records to meet regulatory requirements.

About the Candidate:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • At least 8 years of experience in FDA Regulated software environment software development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role in an Agile environment
  • Experience in healthcare or life sciences, preferably in cancer care
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory standards and quality management systems for medical devices (e.g., FDA, ISO 13485).
  • Experience with the fast-paced environment of a startup, leading a team through change and managing multiple priorities
  • Strong technical skills and experience with software development methodologies, cloud computing, data analytics, and information security
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
