Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator (DBA) to join our Business Intelligence department. Reporting directly to the Manager of Data Engineering, this role is responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, security, and reliability of Keplr’s databases. The ideal candidate has experience supporting mission-critical systems, thrives in early-shift operations, and is passionate about maintaining a stable data environment that supports analytics and business operations.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage, monitor, and maintain production and development database systems (SQL Server, Databricks).
• Perform regular database backups, restores, patching, and upgrades.
• Ensure database availability, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
• Implement security best practices, including user access controls and compliance with HIPAA/data privacy requirements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, including after-hours escalation when necessary.
• Develop and maintain documentation of database systems, policies, and procedures.
• Collaborate with Data Architecture, Analytics, and IT teams to support reporting, ETL, and data warehouse initiatives.
• Proactively monitor system health, identifying risks before they impact business operations.
• Participate in on-call rotation as needed.
• Data migration from SQL-based environment into Databricks
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of hands-on DBA experience in SQL Server, Azure SQL, or other enterprise database platforms.
• Strong knowledge of database performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization.
• Experience with cloud data platforms (Azure, Databricks) preferred.
• Familiarity with ETL processes, BI tools, and data warehousing concepts.
• Knowledge of database security, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently during early-morning hours.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Work Schedule
This role requires consistent coverage during 4:00 AM – 1:00 PM Central Time to support business operations and early reporting needs.
