Salary Exempt (United States of America) The Multi-Plant Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading a technically proficient maintenance team across multiple sites. This role is crucial in driving excellence in planning, decision-making, and continuous improvement across all maintenance processes, ensuring the effective operation of blow molding equipment including but not limited to Uniloy, Bekum, Rocheleau, and other equipment. The manager will play a pivotal role in hiring, firing, and developing a technically capable team, and partnering with plant managers and HR to build the most advanced maintenance team within assigned plants. The multi-plant maintenance manager is responsible for leading a team of maintenance technicians spanning multiple plants, and driving excellence in planning, decision making, and continuous improvement across all maintenance processes.- Team Development: Build and maintain a technically capable maintenance team by recruiting, training, and developing staff to troubleshoot and repair complex equipment.
- Strategic Planning: Collaborate with plant managers to develop short-term and long-term plans for capital deployment across the region based on risk assessments to the Altium customer base. Create, maintain, and update an equipment roadmap for planning capital expenses over the next 5-10 years.
- Operational Excellence: Oversee scheduling and performance of maintenance tasks, ensuring assignments are completed accurately and timely. Troubleshoot and resolve machinery issues and drive continuous improvement in maintenance processes.
- Leadership & Collaboration: Participate in daily meetings with shift leaders and management, interact professionally with clients and vendors, and foster cross-functional team collaboration.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure adherence to safety standards, proper use of PPE, and compliance with environmental regulations.
- Asset Management: Develop and implement a comprehensive asset management strategy to maximize equipment life cycle and reliability. Track and analyze equipment performance metrics to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Budget Management: Oversee the maintenance budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources while minimizing costs. Regularly review financial reports to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Vendor Relations: Establish and maintain strong relationships with key vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of parts and services. Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure favorable terms for the organization.
- Technology Integration: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to enhance maintenance operations. Evaluate and integrate new tools and technologies to improve efficiency and accuracy in maintenance tasks.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations and align with the Altium guiding principles. Develop and enforce policies and procedures to maintain compliance and mitigate risks.
- Emergency Response: Develop and implement emergency response plans for equipment failures and other critical incidents. Coordinate with plant managers and other stakeholders to ensure swift resolution and minimal disruption to operations.
- Performance Metrics: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of maintenance operations. Regularly review and report on KPIs to management and adjust strategies as needed to achieve desired outcomes.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment histories, and inspection reports. Generate regular reports for management review.
- Training Programs: Design and implement training programs to enhance the technical skills and knowledge of maintenance personnel. Promote continuous learning and development within the team. Support initiatives for a Maintenance Leadership Development Program (LDP) and partner with technical schools to ensure a robust pipeline of future talent.
Sustainability Initiatives: Lead initiatives to reduce energy consumption and improve environmental sustainability within maintenance operations. Implement best practices for waste reduction and resource conservation.
Required:
- 5 to 10 years’ experience in a high-output plastics manufacturing environment with in-depth knowledge of hydraulic electrical equipment.
