Senior Brand Designer

As a Senior Brand Designer at Marqeta, you will play a pivotal role in defining and executing engaging, high-performing experiences as part of the Content and Creative team. You will be responsible for ideation, exploration, and implementation of visuals across mediums and channels with an eye toward continual up-leveling of our campaigns and the Marqeta brand.  Beyond the ability to create beautiful work, you are an ambitious, detail-oriented designer with a passion for process, comfortability with feedback and iteration, and strong foundation in the fundamentals.  You anchor your design work in solving the problem at hand and you know the value of a thoughtful design system.

The Impact You’ll Have

• Creating design systems and visuals that leave an impression on our audiences and  Marqeta’s visual brand. 
• Producing creative for holistic campaigns, across various channels and brand surfaces
• Building wireframes and create visuals for responsive web experiences that convert 
• Collaborating with stakeholders to design effective, compelling presentations for new business and corporate communications 
• Help maximize our design organization by implementing design systems, building effective templates, collaborating with our data and insights teams to test and optimize our work, using AI technologies strategically, and evolving/adjusting our processes for an increasingly efficient workflow.

Who You Are

• Bachelor's degree in graphic design or related field, or equivalent work experience
• 4+ years experience in brand design, in house or agency 
• Portfolio of work that demonstrates excellent design across a range of channels/surfaces and strong process
• Highly proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (3D and motion preferred), Google Docs, and Figma (collaborative use of features including building and using brand libraries, variables and components) 
• Excellent design principles and fundamentals: layout, hierarchy, balance, typography, color theory
• Pixel-perfect attention to detail. Uneven margins bug you! 
• Ability to “show your work” through process and iteration, demonstrated in portfolio 
• Generous approach to collaboration: giving and receiving feedback freely and openly in design crits with a kind, constructive mindset  
• Flexible and adaptable to create great work in a fast moving, dynamic environment 
• Organizational mastery: you manage your calendar and work flow effectively to maximize your productivity
• Spirit of curiosity and a drive to seek new ground.  You desire to learn new things to address skills gaps on the team and drive your personal and career growth

Compensation and Benefits

Marqeta is a Flex First company which allows you to choose your best working environment, whether that be from home or at a company office. To support Flex First, we calibrate pay to a competitive value according to working location. Compensation is aligned according to three tiers within the United States:

• National: A baseline tier that applies to most of the geographic territory of the United States.
• Premium: Slightly elevated from the National tier, and oriented toward a narrower set of higher cost-of-living areas, such as Los Angeles CA and Seattle WA
• Premium Plus: A tier for the most expensive working areas, like the San Francisco Bay area and New York City.
