POSITION SUMMARY:
The Business Development Advisor will report to the Business Development Manager and be based out of MPC's Findlay, Ohio campus. The Advisor role is charged with initiating, leading and advancing corporate development activities including new business opportunities, strategic relationships, expansions, JVs, purchase and sales with a primary focus on the renewables area. This role will also help to develop MPC’s strategy with regards to alternative fuels, other technologies and power generation as a leadership role within the group. Role also provides support for the Emerging Technology program which identifies new technologies to address critical issues in existing business units. This position will gain broad exposure to senior leadership, technical subject matter experts as well as internal and external peers across all business segments.
This position is primarily based in Findlay, OH but other MPC locations may considered if they fit business needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leads cross organizational teams focused on evaluating, developing and executing new business opportunities; expansion of existing assets and the purchase or sale of companies, assets or lines of business.
Anticipates the impact of changing business, regulatory and political actions on the business and/or our competitors; identifies, develops and directs actions accordingly.
Interacts with internal organizations at all levels to analyze pertinent data regarding trends, business needs and efficiencies, as well as to determine the viability of proposed opportunities.
Establishes productive and effective relationships with key external companies and contacts. Acts as liaison between Business Development and other internal organizations and stakeholders.
Provides support for the execution of ventures or business opportunities including evaluation, negotiation and development of agreements, and project planning.
Creates and maintains readily available information repositories and anticipates requests to support competitor assessments, macro supply/demand balances by market and product, and the performance of assets and business lines.
Collaborates with senior leadership across organizations to align the long-term strategic plan and support communications.
Researches the business environment to better understand the evolution of alternative fuels and technologies to help formulate a strategy of how MPC might participate in this space over the longer term. The strategy should consider MPC’s existing strengths and weaknesses and how participating in a different space may be synergistic with other parts of MPC’s existing business lines.
Collaborates with business units to identify, evaluate and execute Emerging Technology investments to address business unit critical issues.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree is required; MBA preferred
Major Discipline: Business or Engineering preferred
At least 7+ years of relevant experience
Oil and gas industry experience preferred
Knowledge of existing Renewables programs is beneficial (i.e. – LCFS, RFS, Cap and Trade, etc.)
