Mission Systems is looking for an Associate Engineer to be part of our Supplier Quality team supporting the Propulsion Business located onsite in Fairfield, CA.  This Associate Engineer will provide supplier quality support for both manufacturing of engineered item and commodity materials supporting Mission Systems. This position is an exciting opportunity with room for career growth opportunities.

Candidates must have excellent communication, organizational and time management skills and an overall strong quality focus. They must be able to work within cross-functional teams including Program Management and Subcontracts Management to meet and improve upon program established quality and delivery goals.

What You Will Do

  • Improve supplier quality performance by analyzing performance data, identifying opportunities for improvement.

  • Respond to supplied material defect occurrences and verification of supplied material defect claims with goal of proactive reduction and prevention

  • Participate in cross-functional teams in pursuit of performance improvements aligned to department and organizational goals

  • Preventing/Minimizing business impact from supplied material defects; supplier quality risk mitigation

  • Support the submittal and review of supplier corrective action requests

  • Engage suppliers for quality improvements including on-site supplier engagements and process walks.

  • Develop solutions to problems of unusual complexity which require a high degree of ingenuity, creativity, and innovation

  • Provide project management support to projects and processes

  • Develop independent judgment methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results

  • Travel up to 20%

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and less than 2 years prior relevant experience

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Solid interpersonal skills - ability to communicate and influence at all levels within an organization

  • Solid presentation skills - able to analyze, prepare, and deliver presentations to leadership

  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
