Summary

The Manager, T&D Technical & Safety Training will provide leadership, support, and direction for T&D Technical (craft/apprenticeship) Training, T&D Training Development functions, and T&D safety programs. Lead the department to facilitate the assessment, implementation and delivery of Health/Safety and Technical Training programs through internal and external resources. Establish measures and targets that define superior performance and attainment of department objectives and goals. Ensure accreditation standards are met by review and regular attendance at Joint Apprenticeship Committee meetings. Ensure all regulatory (NERC, ACA, DOL, OSHA, etc.) requirements and accreditation standards are met. Assist the T&D business unit in developing and providing education/training designed to help meet future skills and resource needs as effectively and efficiently as practical.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors' degree in Business, Engineering, or related field
  • Plus eight (8) years related experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five (5) years previous leadership experience.
  • Working knowledge of company policies/procedures and IBEW labor agreement or equivalent combination of comparable education and experience.
  • Demonstrated regulatory compliance experience and knowledge as well as a thorough understanding of the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT, including ADDIE model) requirements.
  • High quality interpersonal and people management skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including group facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency using PC software applications including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Power Point.

 

Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge, or Qualifications:

  • Completed a registered apprenticeship.

Major Accountabilities

1) Direct and ensure the effectiveness of multiple training sections which oversee state-certified apprenticeships, skills development and technical training development and delivery.

2) Oversee development and delivery of safety and technical training programs to assure a consistent coordinated effort in identifying and achieving specific goals and objectives, including regulatory compliance where applicable.

3) Select and develop a high performing team through effective coaching, performance feedback, recognition, training and developmental opportunities. Directly responsible for performance and safety disciplinary actions for apprentices.

4) Establish department standards, goals, and expectations consistent with the organization's goals. Communicate these expectations to all department personnel.

5) Prepare, recommend and oversee development of operating budgets. Monitor spending for adherence to budget; plans, develop and recommend plans to address variances. .

6) Responsible for the interpretation of new laws and regulations, implementation plans for the same and resolution of all compliance issues.

7) Establish the strategic direction of T&D Technical and Safety Training programs to ensure the business customer is prepared for future technological and customer service trends.

8) Direct strategic initiatives that satisfy the needs of the workforce being served with the needed diversity of knowledge and skills while maintaining safety as a priority.

9) Oversee the development of long-term relationships with educational institutions, diversity organizations and community organizations in order to assure a quality, diverse workforce prepared to meet the needs of the organization.
