National Grid is hiring a Lead Sales Engineer for Massachusetts 
 

Job Purpose


The Lead Sales Engineer will provide project development and technical support to members of the sales team regarding electrification projects with National Grid customers. The position requires collaboration with customers, internal groups like engineering, sales, and implementation and external stakeholders such as contractors and technical assistance and implementation vendors. Primary responsibilities include identification and promotion of cost-effective electrification projects at customer sites, thereby assisting in the achievement of Energy Efficiency Program savings and greenhouse gas reduction goals.
 

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Lead technical opportunity identification and the development of strategies with the goal of increasing the quantity, speed, and quality of implemented electrification opportunities.
  • Build trust, develop relationships, and demonstrate value to internal groups and external stakeholders by being a key technical business partner.
  • Partner with sales team members on technical aspects (e.g., baselines, existing conditions, industry standard practices, etc.) of projects including potentially conducting pre-sale site visits/meetings to determine availability of technical solutions and establish customer expectations.
  • Act as a technical liaison between customers, sales team members, internal engineers, and trade partners.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key market stakeholders in the building energy industry including building owners, operators, property managers, architects, engineers, contractors, public officials, and public interest groups.
  • Responsible for coordination with other PAs in MassSave. Confirming processes between PAs are inline with one another. 
     

 

Skills

 

  • Customer oriented with strong self-confidence and excellent verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to translate and explain highly complex technical information to customers and trade partners.
  • Assist customers in answering technical questions on HVAC systems and relevant industry issues.
  • Proficient in electrification and energy efficiency project economics - working knowledge of cost and savings studies incorporating electrification and energy efficiency measures. 
  • Proficient in electrification and energy efficiency project economics.
  • Familiarity with electrification and energy efficiency programs including baselines and the concept of industry standard practice.
  • Ability to identify electrification project opportunities by conducting walkthroughs and discussions with C&I customers.
  • Knowledge and experience with HVAC, control, electrical systems and proficiency with energy analysis tools.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret plans, specifications, contract documents, control drawings, service bulletins, technical procedure manuals, equipment specifications, and governmental regulations. 
  • Proficient with interaction of building systems, new technologies, and the electrification project sales and implementation process.
  • Solid problem-solving capabilities, excellent listening skills, and the ability to understand stakeholder requirements and motivations.
  • Capacity to work across different cross functional teams.
  • Familiarity with energy policy and national and local building codes.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology building science or related discipline. Masters preferred.
  • Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in electrification, energy efficiency, building systems and/or technical sales.
  • Additional business, marketing, or sales training or education would be very helpful.
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) preferred
  • An active Professional Engineering (PE) license in Massachusetts or equivalent preferred
  • Working knowledge of HVAC systems

$139,000 - $164,000 a year 
Salary commensurate with location and experience
