Data Analyst

The Opportunity: 

As data analyst, you love diving into data and turning it into meaningful insights. With the abundance of structured and unstructured data, you understand the importance of transforming complex data sets into useful information to solve challenges. As a data analyst at Booz Allen, you can use your skills and experience to support a mission and use data for good. We need a data analyst like you to bring your knowledge to conduct data analysis for the US Air Force and broader Aerospace applications, accomplish analysis projects, and present findings, insights, and conclusions. This includes contributions to established and future predictive analysis work. You'll provide data engineering subject matter expertise, contribute to dashboards and visualization tools, technical processes, and formulate and develop new existing business information processing approaches, including business rule creation, metrics gathering, and reporting tools.

As a data analyst on our team, you’ll work with us to help drive large-scale business and process decisions through data insights. In your client-facing data analyst role, you’ll work closely with your clients to understand their questions and needs and then dig into their data-rich environments to find the pieces of their information puzzle. Not only will you provide a deep understanding of their data, you’ll also advise your client on what the information means and how it can be used to make informed decisions to drive readiness, efficiencies, and effectiveness.

How You’ll Contribute: 

In this role, you'll:

• Operate independently or in a team environment, contributing to team operations and working relationships with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Use problem solving and troubleshooting skills with experience exercising mature judgment
• Manage ambiguity and adapt to expanding and varying technology solutions and processes
• Use strategic communication skills to include presenting quantitative concepts in easy-to-understand formats and actively listening to identify business problems and their causes
• Technical writing and presentation, including use of word processing, spreadsheet, presentation creation tools, and Internet research tools
• Leverage experience in statistical visualization, including using Python, R, Excel, Power BI, and Tableau, and analytics to generate insights and inform decision-making
• Implement and enhance data management, including collection, cleansing, manipulation, and storage, governance, and the integration of structured and unstructured data to generate insights 
• Leverage automation, cognitive and science-based techniques to manage data, predict scenarios and identify actions

You Have:  

• 2+ years of experience with business process definition, business process modeling, and information system schemes
• Experience with using Microsoft Office and SharePoint
• Experience in analysis packages and programming languages, including R and SQL, Python, or SAS to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets
• Secret clearance
• Bachelor's degree

Nice If You Have:  

• Experience with operations research, systems dynamics, requirements gathering, knowledge base systems, metrics gathering, analytics reporting, business rules, business processes, and workflow
• Experience with applications of advanced statistical techniques and concepts, including regression, properties of distributions, and statistical tests and proper usage
• Experience with R, R Shiny, Qlik, or Python
• Experience with implementing analytics projects to help clients move up the analytics maturity curve
• Knowledge of predictive analytics use cases
• Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques, including clustering, decision tree learning, and artificial neural networks, and their real-world advantages and drawbacks
