Job Overview

As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the UC College of Medicine has a reputation for training best-in-class health care professionals and developing cutting-edge procedures and research that improve the health and clinical care patients.

 

The College of Medicine Department of Medical Education is recruiting an Adjunct Associate Professor to serve as Co-Director for the Multi-Systems course in the medical school phase one curriculum.

Essential Functions

• Partner with your course co-director to ensure the development and delivery of a curriculum that meets medical school education principles and established standards.
• Provide a leadership role, including team building and conflict resolution, in the design of the curriculum for this course.
• Work with your co-director in writing course objectives.
• Work with your co-director in creating the course schedule.
• Write/edit weekly/biweekly exam questions.
• Write practice exam questions.
• Review weekly/biweekly exams.
• Work with the co-director in creating/reviewing the NBME comprehensive final exam.
• Attend monthly Phase 1 (M1/M2) Curriculum Committee meeting (2nd Thursday of every month from 12:00pm – 1:30pm.
• Continuously evaluate the knowledge of the students linked to the goals and objectives of the course.
• Prepare LCME accreditation documents and participate in curricular and program review.
• Continually engage in personal professional development.
• Other lectures as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• Academic degree in an appropriate disciple and prior teaching experience.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to present complex material to students unfamiliar with a subject.
• Must have outstanding writing skills to present research in written format.
• Ability to work and collaborate with individuals from a variety of backgrounds.

Required Education

Master’s degree, PhD. or a doctoral degree.
