Job Summary

The Sr. Manager, Family Care for the Basic Needs & Community Connections department is responsible for providing strategic direction in designing programs and interventions to improve the student support, wrap around services, and academic success of parenting students. The Senior Manager provides administrative oversight of the program including fiscal management, resource development, and advising and coordinating related support. The Sr. Manager works in collaboration with campus and statewide stakeholders, and they are essential in identifying resources, following up on cases assigned and assisting students to persist to graduation. They will also run workshops and assist with campus events that promote well-being. This position requires travel and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the purpose of community colleges and the vision of Dallas College. 

  • Experience leading or managing major change initiatives. 

  • Ability to identify and address opportunities for programmatic growth that aligns with the needs of students. 

  • Experience working with student support programs (counseling, threat assessment, health & wellness programs, etc.). 

  • Experience in strategic planning, assessment of program(s) effectiveness, and development of guidelines to enhance student success units within the institution and with accrediting bodies.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, complex ideas, and information to a variety of stakeholders/constituents within the Dallas College community and health care, social service network related to student basic mental health, physical, spiritual, and social needs.

  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations regarding student accessibility and the Americans with Disabilities Act. 

  • Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations. 

  • Skills in technological support and delivery of student programs and services; knowledge and skill in the use of integrated software systems; and proficiency in the use of Microsoft application software 

  • Employ and deploy data-informed and results oriented initiatives.

  • An understanding of contemporary issues in higher education is required through professional development activities.  

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information exposed to in the course of business regarding students, supervisors or other employees. 

  • Highly collaborative leader with experience in a comparably diverse and complex college/university with a proven track record of enhancing quality, excellence, and student success.  

  • Must be able to lead a team of supervise positions within the department.

  • Excellent time management, and organizational and problem-solving skills. 

  • Responds appropriately to issues in a dynamic, rapidly changing educational/economic environment.

Physical Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in related fields. Official transcripts required.

  • Three (3) years of demonstrable administrative and leadership experience.

  • Current and valid Texas driver’s license required.

  • Experience working with and leading diverse student and staff populations.

  • Experience developing, implementing, and analyzing data to make informed decisions.

  • Bilingual or multilingual preferred.
