About the Team/Position

The Walmart Academy team sits within the Global Talent and Learning team. The Senior Manager of Learning and Development is responsible for leading a team of instructional designers that support designing and developing learning solutions for our campus-based associates. In this role, you will clarify performance expectations, deliver ongoing feedback, and support career development for your direct reports. You will provide oversight on all phases or projects, including resource allocation, ensure quality of learning experiences, communication with learning architects, and identify and mitigate risks. You will also collaborate with other Instructional Design managers to set learning standards and strategies for products.

• Building a team-based work environment by establishing performance expectations and conducting regular performance and career conversations, coaching for success, and providing recognition and rewards.
• Driving the execution of multiple learning projects, removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance, monitoring and tracking learning content development, demonstrating adaptability, and supporting continuous learning.
• Ensuring business needs are met by evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of current plans and processes and making improvements to improve quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
• Researching and benchmarking industry standards to identify opportunities to replicate best practices, defining and documenting standardized training processes to ensure operational continuity.
• Promoting and supporting company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by providing direction others in their use and application.

What you’ll bring… 

• Experience leading a team of instructional designers with a proven track record of delivering successful learning experiences for a corporate audience across multiple modalities.
• Extensive knowledge of adult learning theories, learning systems, and performance analysis.
• Experience in designing and developing learning experiences for all delivery modalities.
• A consultative approach to recommending learning solutions.
• Proven track record of being a self-starter to optimize opportunities to add value to the organization through continuous improvement.
