This is a 11-month work-year position. You will be on unpaid time off for approximately one month each academic year. The dates will vary each academic year and may fluctuate based on business needs. Work schedule to be discussed during interview. See work shift below.

Purpose

To assist healthcare professionals with the delivery of patient care services and to perform clinical skills as ordered by medical provider.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the evaluation and care of patients to be seen by UHS providers in person and by telehealth.
  • Performs procedures and treatments such as intake assessments, EKGs, peak flows, vision testing, nebulizer therapy, ear irrigations, wound care, application of orthopedic devices, crutch teaching and cleaning/stocking of exam rooms.
  • Assists with minor surgeries, patient health teaching and nursing office functions.
  • Exhibits customer service-oriented behavior and excellent public relations skills.
  • Demonstrates professional and team oriented behavior.
  • Other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program, current Medical Assistant Certification (CMA or CCMA).
  • CPR certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Experience using electronic medical records.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully work independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully work with a diverse community and provide services from a non-judgmental perspective. ​
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • More than one year of experience using electronic medical records.
  • More than one year of experience in an ambulatory, outpatient or urgent care clinic, emergency room, or college health setting.
  • Demonstrated good communication skills, interpersonal skills, team-building skills, and professional demeanor.

Salary Range

$3,633.15 per month

Work Shift

Monday through Friday, 8am - 5pm. Hours may fluctuate based on business needs.
