Parklane SUN Program Assistant

General Function: 

Under the general supervision of the SUN Site Manager, the Program Assistant will support the day-to-day functioning of the Extended Day program. The Program Assistant will also be responsible for clerical, organizational, special project, intermittent duties and family engagement. This is a non-benefitted part-time position with Metropolitan Family Service.  Your working location is Parklane Elementary School where the after school program will run seasonally (Schedule listed below).

SCHEDULE: 

Fall: 10/16-12/05 2:27pm-5:00pm

Winter: 01/15-03/06 2:27pm-5:00pm

Spring: 04/01 - 05/29 2:27pm-5:00pm

Summer: TBD

Additional Orientation time and some evening events to be determined.

General Schedule: School Year:

October 2025- May 2026 Monday – Thursday, 16 hours a week Schedule: 1:30pm - 5:30pm

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 

General: 

  • Support the SUN Site Manager with general functioning of the after school/summer program, including, planning activities, maintaining attendance records, supplies, set-up/clean-up, funding requirement goal meeting, surveys, assist in daily supper count and program transitions throughout the building 
  • Assist Site Manager with duties including: data entry, student attendance tracking, implementing positive behavior incentive plans, community and family event planning, and maintaining community partnerships 
  • Facilitate outreach and recruitment of students, parents, and community members to increase participation, volunteerism, and involvement in SUN activities 
  • Assist in the planning and coordination of family and community events 
  • Coordinate participant registration, data collection, documentation, filing and database maintenance in accordance with the program’s needs 
  • Assist with the outreach and recruitment of community organizations and resources to support family health and social service needs 
  • Develop positive working relationships with students, families, teachers, school staff, community partners, volunteers, office staff and custodians.
  • Communicate frequently with the SUN Site Manager about individual student progress, successes and concerns. Keep the SUN Site Manager informed about overall class development and needed support 
  • Provide family engagement and a referral support for families regarding available resources
  • Work with partners for program activities
  • Work within school policies, agency and school confidentiality, and understand referral systems for behaviors. 
  • All new employees must pass a background check through Metropolitan Family Service 
  • One staff training is required before the start of the session (date and time TBA), and new hire paperwork must be completed in a timely manner
