Maintenance Mechanic III 

Gaithersburg, MD

Your Tasks:  

In this role, you will be responsible for a wide range of facility maintenance activities in support of Plant and Lab Operations. You will oversee the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and optimization of equipment and materials used in research and manufacturing processes. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, facilities, and manufacturing in order the support operational efficiency and GMP regulatory compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Responsible for troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of all building mechanical and water systems (HVAC, boilers, chillers, air compressors, water systems, etc).
• Train junior maintenance mechanics on equipment operation and troubleshooting as needed.
• Work closely with the Lead Mechanic on execution of equipment documentation.
• Ensure the timely completion of work orders.
• Plan preventative maintenance such as repairs and work order activities with internal staff.
• Make recommendations to improve the functionality of equipment and systems.
• Support all operations with afterhours coverage (on call).
• Perform work in laboratories, offices, cleanrooms, and mechanical spaces.
• Oversee contractors as needed.
• Use the building automation system for monitoring, trending, and alarm response.
• Perform other trade duties such as plumbing and carpentry.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Requirements:

• HS Diploma; 5-8 years’ experience working in general maintenance or mechanical repair for a regulated environment, preferably a cGMP or Life Sciences facility; or a combination of education and experience. 
• Experience with cleanroom maintenance and GMP guidelines.

Skills:

· Experience within the following areas:

• HVAC systems and troubleshooting.
• Backup Generators, CDA & Vacuum Pumps; cGMP Cleanroom Environments (Grades A-D / ISO 4-7).
• Fire Alarm/Suppression Systems.
• Calibration of temperature/humidity/pressure sensors.
• Troubleshooting VFD's.
• CMMS software and assigning work orders.
• Contractor/vendor management.
• Knowledge of reading and understanding technical drawings, schematics, electrical diagrams & building schedules.
• Management of Spare Parts Inventory for Critical Equipment.

· Knowledge of WFI and RODI system operation.

· Experience with the operation, navigation, and understanding of PLC and BMS systems.

· Attention to detail and problem solving.

· Communication and relationship building.
