Tool Crib Technician

Vast is looking for a Tool Crib Technician, reporting to the Senior Manager of Machining, to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations.
This will be a full-time, non-exempt position located in our Long Beach location.
Responsibilities:
- Receive, store and issue tool setting related equipment, hydraulic, shrink fit and other supplies used in the Vast manufacturing process
- Accurately maintain computerized records of all tools and equipment in inventory
- Inspect items received into tool crib for defects, wear or damage and report any issues to lead or supervisor
- Manage spares and replacements to keep shrinkfit machine/hydraulic tool setter equipment in good operating order
- Work effectively with purchasing department to maintain adequate tool crib spares inventory
- Utilize set up sheets in order to prepare tools and fixtures needed for production
- Assist in identifying tool issues and initiating corrective action processes as necessary
- Perform safety audit observations as required of the tool crib area
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 2+ years of experience working with tool inventory control or in a maintenance environment
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Experience reading blueprints/technical drawings
- Experience in using various type of tool setting equipment, hydraulic, shrink fit, etc.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Experienced in setting tools holding TIR <.0003
- Experience grinding cutting tools. Reliefs, radius’ using grinding machines.
- Experience using a comparator or similar to check Cutter radius’
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, torque wrenches, etc.
- Understand a variety of holders and their purposes
- Understand cutting tools, geometry, coating, wear, etc.
- Ability to maintain a safe and clean working environment while adhering to company policies, quality policies, and industry standards
- Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of challenging situations
- Detail oriented, organized, and able to demonstrate a high sense of urgency
- Highly motivated and a self-starter
Additional Requirements:
- Must be available for overtime and weekends as needed
- Able to lift 25 lbs. unassisted
- Comfortable with repetitive movement, bending or twisting, and using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls, and exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting
Pay Range:
- Tool Crib Technician I: $22.00 - $24.00 /per hour
- Tool Crib Technician II: $26.00 - $30.00 /per hour
- Tool Crib Technician III: $28.00 - $33.00 /per hour
