An Administrative Assistant job is available with The City of Fort Worth Code Compliance Department. The candidate will be responsible for managing the procurement of goods and services for the City of Fort Worth Code Compliance department to establish contracts and purchase agreements with suppliers and to perform a variety of technical tasks related to assigned area of responsibility. The candidate must have strong purchasing skills along with the ability to provide exceptional customer service, communicate clearly and concisely.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree from an accredited college with major course work in Business Management, Public Administration, Business Administration or related field.
- Four (4) years of clerical and administrative experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint computer skills; and
- Strong customer service, written and verbal communication, and documentation skills
- Principles and practices of Business Administration and Governmental/Public Purchasing
- Knowledge of complete purchasing process.
- Financial management software/systems and purchasing systems (e.g. PeopleSoft, ERP, SAP, etc.).
- Public Information Request process
The Administrative Assistant job responsibilities include:
- Providing routine administrative, fiscal, and technical support for the daily operations of the Administrative Services Division of Code Compliance. This will include:
- Monitoring and submitting requisitions for supplies and materials and initiating purchase orders.
- Researching and ensuring bill payments are processed efficiently and timely.
- Monitoring expenditures according to budget guidelines and ensuring adherence to the department budget.
- Researching and responding to Public Information Requests adhering to time sensitive deadlines.
- Responding to and resolving customers’ inquiries or direct to appropriate personnel.
- Drafting correspondence, including the processing of pressing assignments.
- Providing staff support to the assigned division including serving as backup for various staff positions in their absence and performing other related duties as assigned.

Physical Demand
Sedentary Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
