The Job:  

As a Senior Engineer, you’ll be part of our Tools & Outdoor team and will be working as a Hybrid employee.    You’re a strong problem solver who loves digging into the details to fully understand what is going on.  You have fixed a lot of problems, so you know how sort out what is meaningful and what is not to be as efficient as possible. You have run DOE’s and done the statistics to make well informed decisions.  You like getting your hands dirty and want to be the one disassembling a problem to find out what is broken and how to fix it. You’re agile and adaptable but work with precision to ensure we deliver top-notch customer experiences, always.  You want to work on a project where you can see the fruits of your labor come to life and enjoy getting to see the finished product on the shelves of major retailers around the globe. You also have:      

• Successfully carry out the design process to achieve all quality, performance, schedule and cost objectives in a cross-functional environment. 
• Perform hands-on concept development, prototyping, product testing, data collection and definition of product specifications. 
• Independently carry out advanced stack-ups and system analysis to ensure product assembly and functionality remain consistent throughout its lifetime. 
• Investigate design issues & test failures, and effectively identify, recommend and implement corrective actions to components. 
• Partner with cross-functional teams (Product Marketing, Reliability, Field Research) to identify and clearly define customer requirements, and translate those requirements into appropriate product specifications and develop test systems to ensure we meet or exceed customer expectations 
• Meet with suppliers, project stakeholders to review designs and alter as needed. Drive the design review  
• Work in a core team of 3-4 engineers/designers to develop a product from start to finish 
• Support prototype and engineering builds for engineering and manufacturing teams and initial production lots to ensure that the products are assembled and tested in the correct way to ensure long term product quality 
• Implements design and process controls, conducts root-cause analysis, and apply statistical and Lean Six-Sigma techniques to maintain and improve product quality as problems arise thru the product development cycle 
• Support the Engineering process for all engineering requirements to deliver a product that meets our history of guaranteed tough products 

The Person:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 3 to 5 years of experience. 
• Computer literate; MS Word, Power Point, Excel, FEA, 2D/3D CAD (CATIA experience a plus) 
• Demonstrated ability to dissect a problem to find the root cause, design a solution and create a test method to prove out the issue really is fixed 
• Enjoys getting your hands dirty and being involved in building, testing and du-bugging tools throughout the development cycle 
• Experience with product development: Design, DFM, root cause analysis, test instrumentation and data acquisition and analysis 
• Quality - use of statistical tools, process capability, DOE’s, stack-ups 
• Coordination of internal and external resources 
• Accountable for managing the design process and owning the results 
• Enjoy Full/fast-paced design cycles that average 2 years and a dynamic work environment  
• Possible international travel to visit manufacturing locations
