Title: Healthy and Safety Specialist (II – Sr.)
Reports to: Health and Safety Manager
Location: Holland, MI

Summary:
Focus on improving EH&S at the Holland site by using his/her experience to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and control hazards in the workplace and engage employees in the development of a strong EH&S culture. Evaluates workplace compliance with regard to local, state and federal regulations. Functions as an expert resource to teams for consistent implementation of company EH&S standards and programs. Performs jobsite auditing and conducts incident investigation. Conducts inspections and ensures compliance with applicable EH&S regulations and standards.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee one or more plant-wide safety, health and/or environmental programs
- Manage the ISO 14001 certification process and lead the Environmental Compliance Team to drive continuous improvement in all environmental programs
- Ensure hazard identification and mitigation for plant operations and administrative offices
- Conduct daily line walks to ensure EH&S practices are being observed and to note any at-risk behaviors, unsafe conditions, faulty equipment or non-compliance with any EH&S related policies/regulations
- Ensure timely communication of safety issues/concerns to department leadership
- Lead cross-functional teams to drive improvements across the organization
- Participate in incident investigations and track corrective actions
- Conduct new equipment reviews, mechanical risk assessments and ergonomic risk assessments
- Participate in emergency response drills and critiques
- Conduct new hire orientation, contractor safety and other EH&S related training topics
- Develop/update site specific programs to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations
- Communicate with LGESMI SH&E colleagues around the globe
- Maintain cleanliness at worksite in accordance with 5S3R Standards:
- Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain
- Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering ore related field required, MBA or MS preferred, or equivalent, relevant experience
- Professional certification (ASP/CSP, CIH, CHMM) preferred
- Construction Management and or Process Safety Management (PSM) experience preferred
- Bilingual in Korean and English preferred
Experience:
- 3-7+ years of experience evaluating and improving EH&S programs in a manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated leadership experience is preferred
- Experience managing ISO 14001:2015 certification
Skills:
- MS Office Suite
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Problem solving and analytical skills
- Strong knowledge of and experience working with OSHA, EPA and state/local regulations and requirements
- Knowledge in advanced manufacturing technology (automation), chemicals, and electrical
- safety is a plus
- Must be comfortable working in a team setting
- Skill in analyzing and evaluating technical data, test results, and reports
- Positive attitude, self-driven, strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated effectiveness in accomplishing goals
- Excellent organizational, communication, and computer skills
- Ability to work flexible hours occasionally
