Job Description:

Iowa State University is seeking a Student Wellness Director to lead and enhance student wellness programs. This position is responsible for the overall operations and strategic direction of Student Wellness, ensuring the development and implementation of health promotion strategies, prevention initiatives, and student support services. The Director will oversee key wellness areas, including public health, mental health promotion, substance use prevention, and basic needs assistance (e.g., food pantry management).

This leadership role will focus on fostering a culture of holistic well-being, aligning departmental goals with the Division of Student Affairs and university priorities, and collaborating with campus and community partners to support student success.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have 7 years of leadership experience in student wellness, public health, higher education, or related field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Department Leadership: Direct the operations, policies, and strategic planning for Student Wellness, ensuring alignment with university goals.

  • Health & Wellness Programs: Oversee initiatives in public health, mental health promotion, power-based personal violence prevention, and collegiate recovery programs.

  • Personnel Management: Supervise and support Student Wellness staff, including two assistant directors and an administrative assistant, fostering a culture of respect, inclusion, and innovation.

  • Financial Oversight: Develop and manage the departmental budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and effective allocation of resources.

  • Safety & Risk Management: Ensure compliance with university policies, oversee public health risk mitigation, and contribute to emergency operations planning.

  • University & Community Collaboration: Serve as a liaison to students, faculty, staff, and external organizations, representing ISU in student health promotion efforts.

This position will be hired into the Associate Director job profile with a Director working title.
