What will you do as a Fleet Service Technician?


As a part of the Fleet Operations Team, the Fleet Technician is responsible for performing day to day mechanic repairs to the company assets including troubleshooting, diagnosing and completing repairs on all types of vehicles. This position will also perform inspections as required by regulations.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and complete repairs on all types of vehicles.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and unscheduled repair work on company fleet.
  • Must be able to perform tasks with the most cost effective possible way to maintain budget limits.
  • Must be willing to perform emergency repairs out of town at a moment’s notice.
  • Perform Daily DOT inspections.
  • Perform Annual DOT Inspections.
  • Welding or fabrication of parts for repairs.
  • Respond to service calls.
  • Maintain tools.
  • Clean work area.
  • Pick up and deliver vehicles (may include overnight stay).

  • Knowledge of how to perform major repair.
  • Understanding of lubricants.
  • Ability to read and understand Material Safety Data Sheets.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • 1+ years of mechanic experience on light and heavy equipment required.
  • 3+ years journeyman mechanic experience preferred.
  • Two or more years of experience with heavy diesel mechanical work.
  • Demonstrated mechanical and technical aptitude.
  • Must have an active Class A CDL or ability to obtain a Class A CDL and ability to learn to operate a Class A CDL tractor and trailer, understand and remain in compliance with all CDL requirements and have a motor vehicle driving history that meets CCBCHC guidelines.
  • May be required to supply automotive hand tools. (Not including heavy duty or diagnostic tools.)
  • ASE certification preferred; Trade School or military training and education.

  • Continuing education to maintain certification and a current working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.
