The University of Louisville School of Engineering is seeking two part-time research assistants in mechanical engineering. The research assistants will be working with 3D printer design and prototyping. Have applicable knowledge in the following areas; plastic extrusion, simple computer electronics, g-code, C/C++ programming, mechanical design, material conveyance, machining, 3D printing process optimization, and/or complex heat transfer systems. Ability and willingness to defend your design choices under scrutiny and incorporate changes as need. Job will include testing the current 3D printer and brainstorming, selecting, designing, manufacturing, and testing improvements and corrections to the existing 3D printer.
20 hours a week
Preferred Qualifications:
3D printer design and prototyping
Masters degree in mechanical engineering
Good written and oral communication skills
Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
