Forest Preserve District of Cook County

Under general supervision of the Equipment Supervisor I or higher, supports Fleet Maintenance Mechanics, Laborers and Serviceman engaged in the maintenance and repair of motorized mechanical equipment including, but not limited to, snow blowers and plows, heavy duty trucks, front end loaders, tractors, bulldozers, garbage trucks, police cars, and various types of equipment. Supervises inventory control and orders, maintains, and stocks the Parts Department with inventory and necessary parts at the Central Fleet Garage as needed. May assist other District personnel and perform other duties as required.

Responsible for product specification for ordering and stocking equipment, parts, tools, and materials for fleet use.

Conducts an assessment of current inventory and directs salvage/recycling of damaged, used, or obsolete equipment and material.

Drafts RFPs and RFQs, contract clauses, amendments, and other memoranda or documents as required. Advises the Equipment Supervisor(s) I on the RFQ/P process.

Monitors contract processes including contract revisions, time extensions, price increases, negotiated amendments, etc.

Assists in ordering, maintaining, and storing inventory of parts, tools, and equipment needed to perform equipment maintenance repairs. Issues items needed for staff to accomplish repairs.

Maintains inventory control of parts and materials to ensure availability when needed.
