POSITION IS LOCATED AT THE MARINE SCIENCE INSTITUTE IN PORT ARANSAS, TEXAS.

Responsibilities
- Prepare ground for planting, cultivate, fertilize, water, and prune flowers, shrubs and trees.
- Operate push and riding mowers and trim plants and hedges using other equipment.
- Clean and maintain tools, equipment, materials and supplies. Light construction and demolition and moving appliances and furniture.
- Drive UT vehicle to pick up plants, fertilizer or other items. Transport furniture to the warehouse.
- Inspect for pests, diseases, or other deteriorating agents and take the necessary steps for their eradication.
- Lift, pull, and push up to 50 lbs.
- Other related functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High school degree or equivalency. Use of hand and power tools applicable to the trade. Demonstrated ability to follow instructions. Valid Texas driver's license. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
A minimum of 6 months experience in a commercial environment.
Driving Required
This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident.
Salary Range
$31,200+ depending upon qualifications
Working Conditions
- Exposure to adverse weather conditions and hazards such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke and loud noises.
- Ability to lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs.
