This person will meaningfully contribute to research projects regarding biological processes of recovery after brain damage with a combination of in vitro and in vivo techniques.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in in vitro laboratory work, including cell culture, PCR, western blotting, DNA/RNA purification, plasmid purification, and basic fluorescence microscopy. Experience in neuroscience and in handling mice is preferred but not required. Strong organizational skills and willingness to learn are essential.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree with 6 Years of experience or Master’s degree with 2 years of experience. Relevant laboratory experience preferred
Duties:
Under supervision of the laboratory Primary Investigator, the research technician will be responsible for:
-Management and husbandry of rodent colonies, including genotyping and recordkeeping
-Ordering and managing laboratory supplies and equipment
-Assisting in keeping the laboratory in compliance with environmental health and safety regulations
-Assisting with a range of cell culture and biochemical experiments
-Maintain individual and laboratory records in accordance with federal and local record keeping standards
-Other duties as assigned
- Ability to work independently.
- Demonstrated ability to organize and coordinate work within schedule constraints and handle emergent requirements in a timely manner.
- Demonstrated ability to monitor important and complex projects concurrently.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Lotus Notes/other email software.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, to include writing and preparing memorandums, letters, and other official correspondence.
