Who will you be working with?

Here you’ll interact daily with team members during the problem resolution process and will partner with other key stakeholders to support our internal customers and their responsibilities. 

How will you make a difference?

The Senior Environmental Staff Manager is responsible for leading a team that supports a diverse portfolio of projects and initiatives addressing environmental compliance and stewardship as well as for setting the direction for long-term strategic environmental leadership. Candidates should have significant experience working within a regulatory compliance function, along with expertise in program development and implementation. The ability to lead and energize customers and partners is critical. The ideal candidate is a role model and mentor while at the same time a “roll up your sleeves and get it done” member of the team.  The candidate must be analytical and work independently, manage deadlines and budgets, have strong research, communication and analytical skills, be thoughtful and strategic, and enjoy working in a dynamic matrix environment.

What do we want to know about you?

Do you have: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in environmental science or environmental engineering from an accredited college or university

  • Minimum of 8 years of environmental compliance experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing setting

  • Deep understanding of applicable US and Pennsylvania environmental regulations across numerous environmental media (Title V, RCRA, NPDES, SPCC, etc.)

  • Able to communicate complex situations and issues clearly and persuasively

  • Provide attention to detail in all work products

  • Bring clear and data-driven approaches to problem solving

  • Able to manage large and historically complex manufacturing facilities

  • Leverage software and technology to facilitate compliance with applicable laws and regulations

  • Manage complex and competing program demands through to success

  • Proficiency in all applicable software platforms (e.g., Gensuite, MAXIMO, MS Office)

  • Successfully interface with a bargaining-unit workforce

What will your typical day look like?

  • Champion environmental compliance and governance obligations while promoting responsible and appropriate business flexibility and growth

  • Foster cooperative and productive working relationships with customers and partners, both internal and external to the business (e.g., operations team, cross functional teams, regulatory agencies)

  • Support customers to maximize success of an operationalized environmental program

  • Interpret and communicate regulatory obligations applicable to varied and complex business operating scenarios

  • Proactively anticipate regulatory initiatives, undertake regulatory advocacy as appropriate, assure “day-one” compliance for new initiatives

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve compliance assurance mechanisms

  • Proactively communicate to business leadership regarding environmental risk and potential risk-mitigation strategies

  • Assure accuracy and on-time delivery of compliance documents, including monitoring, recordkeeping, reporting, and permit applications
