• Hours: 40 hours per week (Monday – Friday)

• Compensation: $20.00/hour

Intern, Accounting/Finance

This 3-month Accounting/Finance internship provides exposure to the inner workings of finance and accounting, equipping you with the technical and supporting skills to succeed grow in your career.

This internship supports the Finance team to strengthen the organization's financial integrity, business processes, and system of internal controls by working on financial projects and providing accounting support, insight, and recommendations.

 

Key Learning Goals:

Through immersive learning and real-world projects, you will:

• Expand Accounting Fundamentals - Learn the monthly and annual accounting cycle by completing account reconciliations and supporting schedules, accounting entries, and financial reports to develop core accounting skills
• Continuous Improvement - Engage in process improvement initiatives, including software implementations, internal audits, policy/procedure documentation, and internal control assessments.

Responsibilities:

As the Accounting/Finance Intern, you will work on projects to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the Finance Department including:

1. Accounting operations and related process improvements/internal controls
2. Analysis and implementation of cost savings initiatives
3. Financial reporting

Programming:

• Participate in robust on-boarding experience

Required Qualifications:

• Enrolled undergraduate or graduate student, or recent graduates (within the past 18 months)
• Must be able to work 40 hours per week (Monday – Friday) for the duration of this internship
• Must be able work in the office (St. Paul, MN) at least 2-3 days per week
• Interest in pursuing a career in accounting/finance or admission into a graduate business program
• Completed introductory coursework in finance or accounting (e.g., financial accounting, audit, information systems)
• Familiar with and willing to learn fundamental accounting, internal control, and auditing concepts
• Strong critical thinking and analytical abilities
• Effective problem solver requires strong coordination and communication skills
• Objective and curious
• Interest in financial systems and creating efficiency
• Proficient Microsoft Office skills including Excel, Word, and Outlook

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous finance or accounting internship or experience
