Position Summary

As a Senior Manufacturing Specialist, you will serve as the technical lead for the Filler and Packaging operations on the new coffee aseptic line at the Fremont factory. You will support daily operations, troubleshoot issues in real time, lead process optimization efforts, and coach frontline teams to ensure operational excellence. This role is central to delivering safe, high-quality Starbucks and Nespresso products while maintaining the highest standards in safety, compliance, and performance.

Primary Responsibilities

Filler & Packaging Operational Support

  • Own day-to-day operational support for filler and downstream packaging equipment
  • Respond in real time to performance, quality, or mechanical issues during production runs.
  • Collaborate with operators to ensure smooth start-ups, steady-state runs, and clean transitions between shifts.

 

Line Startups, Changeovers & Optimization

  • Lead filler and packaging equipment startups, format changeovers, and new product introductions.
  • Ensure equipment is running at nominal speeds and aligned with standard operating conditions.
  • Drive initiatives to reduce changeover time, minimize waste, and increase line efficiency.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, and Training teams to ensure best practices are followed across shifts.
  • Support alignment of operations with corporate standards, including GMP and aseptic protocols.
  • Provide feedback to Engineering/Project teams during new installations or upgrades.

Root Cause Analysis & Problem Solving

  • Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis  for filler and packaging equipment faults, stoppages, and quality deviations.
  • Work with Engineering and Maintenance to implement permanent corrective actions.
  • Document equipment or process changes that impact performance or compliance.

 

Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor and report on KPIs specifically related to filler and packaging, such as filler efficiency, downstream bottlenecks, downtime, and waste.
  • Lead events and small group improvement sessions focused on filler and packaging performance.
  • Leverage data to drive sustainable improvements.

 

Training & Capability Building

  • Assist in onboarding and cross-training of operators and technicians.
  • Coach frontline teams on equipment operation, safety protocols, and SOP adherence.
  • Help update or create work instructions and job aids for new or modified processes.

 Food Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to food safety regulations, site policies, and aseptic processing requirements.
  • Support execution of cleaning, sanitation, and validation protocols.
  • Participate in audits and help close out compliance gaps.

 

Required Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree with 3 years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.  
  • 3+ years of experience in food or beverage manufacturing required, with hands-on exposure to filler and packaging systems preferred.
  • Strong understanding of aseptic processing, GMP, and food safety protocols.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead troubleshooting efforts and drive continuous improvement.
