Position Overview:

As our Quality Technician, you will support by assisting engineering with development and testing activities You will assist in helping to develop manufacturing plans and inspection procedures.

 

Location:

The position will be in Lynchburg, VA at the Advanced Technologies Office.

 

Your Day to Day as a Quality Technician:

  • Provide quality control (QC) support and oversight for engineering, development, and testing activities.
  • Select appropriate tool/gage and perform dimensional inspections using manual inspection tools and gages, CMM, optical comparator/vision system, 3D laser scanning systems, etc..
  • Collaboration with project team for development of inspection and test plans including determination of inspection methods and calibration procedures.
  • Assist with the development of inspection procedures.
  • Assist with the development of manufacturing plans.
  • Support current inspection equipment and systems.
  • Participate in review and disposition of nonconformances.
  • Prepare product data packages.
  • Assist in identifying quality requirements for procurements and reviewing supplier proposals.
  • Review supplier inspection plans and procedures.
  • Perform source inspection at suppliers.
  • Review supplier quality documentation for conformance to procurement requirements.
  • Support additional assignments by management as needed.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of an associate degree in a technical field plus eight (8) years of experience OR a high school diploma / equivalent plus ten (10) years of relevant experience is required.
  • A minimum of four (4) years quality experience in a nuclear, defense or aerospace industry is required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience with inspection for product development, prototyping, and/or First-of-a-Kind applications.
  • Experience with independent planning and performance of dimensional inspections including demonstrated understanding of selection and application of appropriate dimensional inspection techniques.
  • Must be able to read and interpret complex drawings including understanding and implementation of ANSI Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) for inspection.
