Purchases goods from approved suppliers. Ensures quality of the products when received and appropriate inventory levels are maintained by managing weekly turns. Plays an integral role in ensuring the department meets budgets and operates profitably.

Essential Functions

Receiving and Storage Functions:

  • Receives and verifies physical shipment with packing slips and purchase orders and notifies Culinary procurement of discrepancies. Identifies damaged or missing items to expedite credits and refuses sub-standard products

  • Stocks materials in proper storage locations following FIFO and labels products according to department procedures within multiple Intermountain Health facilities. Follows HACCP, local and state health department standards.

  • Processes outbound (shipping) supplies and equipment to ensure accuracy and timeliness.

  • Maintains a clean and orderly storage and receiving area/dock.

Distribution Functions:

  • Customer service to support interdepartmental needs within multiple Intermountain Health facilities.

  • Picks orders according to production needs, verifies unit of measurement, quality and correct product.

  • Ensures all delivery containers are labelled, dated and staged properly.

  • Problem solves picking issues by making adjustments and corrections to pick lists.

  • Performs data entry on materials that were disbursed and transferred.

  • Distributes food and non-food products to assigned locations, including satellite facilities.

  • Stores and uses cleaning chemicals properly according to Joint Commission and OSHA standards. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Valid state driver's license, if required by facility (required).

  • Current food handler's permit (required).

  • One or more year of experience in food services, inventory management or warehouse inventory (preferred).

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with members of department and medical staff.

  • Demonstrated ability to write accurately and legibly.

  • Demonstrated ability to read, understand, and apply procedures and instructions.

  • Demonstrated ability to use a power pallet jack and all other material handling equipment.

Physical Requirements

  • Interact with co-workers requiring the employee to verbally communicate information, as well as understand spoken information.
  • Operate food service equipment or computer requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.
  • See and read labels, monitors, and documents.
  • Carry, push/pull, and walk while transporting food, supplies, and service equipment.
  • Climb, squat, kneel, and lift (up to 50 pounds) to clean equipment and reach and retrieve food and supplies.
  • Remain standing for long periods of time to perform work.
  • Tolerate extremes in temperature such as performing work in a fridge or freezer

$20.45 - $27.04
