Description

The PRM Quality and Reliability Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the quality assurance and  long-term reliability of Geospace Technologies' OptoSeis PRM systems deployed on Petrobras offshore fields. This includes managing quality processes during system design, fiber-optic component manufacturing, testing, installation, and ongoing operational monitoring. The role requires close collaboration with Geospace PRM Project Engineers to ensure lifecycle integrity, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence of PRM deployments such as the Mero 3 & 4 systems.

 

  • Develop and lead reliability verification plans (HALT, HASS, MTBF) for Optical PRM components.
  • Oversee design validation, production quality control, and field performance monitoring.
  • Support factory and site acceptance testing (FAT/SIT) and offshore integration for PRM installations.
  • Lead RCA and CAPA processes for product failures or nonconformities.
  • Maintain compliance with ISO 9001, API Q1/Q2, Petrobras technical specifications, and IEC subsea standards.
  • Evaluate vendor reliability performance and conduct periodic supplier audits.
  • Establish data analytics for PRM reliability tracking and predictive maintenance trends.
  • Interface with customer representatives and third-party inspectors for quality gate reviews.
  • Deliver reliability and quality metrics reporting to senior engineering and project teams.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Reliability, Mechanical, Electrical, or Quality Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in reliability/quality engineering within the subsea, oil & gas, fiber-optic sensor.
  • Familiarity with reliability modeling (Weibull, FMEA, Fault Tree Analysis, MTBF/MTTR).
  • Experience working with Petrobras standards, or other NOC/OEM subsea QA frameworks.
  • Knowledge of fiber-optic cable assembly, subsea sensor systems, and long-term offshore system operation.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Reliability or Systems Engineering.
  • Certification in CRE (Certified Reliability Engineer) or CQE.
  • Experience in Deepwater PRM deployment

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong analytical mindset with expertise in statistical reliability tools.
  • Practical knowledge of QA/QC testing methods for subsea instrumentation.
  • Excellent cross-functional communication and reporting skills.
  • Leadership in failure analysis and risk mitigation programs.
  • Ability to operate in global, multi-vendor project environments.
