Performs a comprehensive ophthalmic assessment on ocular patients. Performs diagnostic tests as indicated or as requested by the ophthalmologist. Functions autonomously as part of an integrated team of ophthalmic support services. Performs patient education in regard to treatment of ocular conditions as well as preventative care.
High school education or GED. Two years experience as an ophthalmic assistant. Must have technical and diagnostic skills to perform a comprehensive ophthalmic assessment along with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. Must have effective keyboarding skills. Current, active COA, COT, COMT, CRA or OCT-c certification is required upon hire, be current for 90 days following start date, and maintained for duration of employment.
