Description

  • The Corporate Director of Inpatient Care Management and Behavioral Health Crisis Care Management serves as a system-level leader providing strategic direction, operational oversight, and program development across Emory Healthcare's inpatient and behavioral health crisis care environments
  • This role is responsible for designing and implementing standardized workflows, promoting evidence-based practice, supporting quality outcomes, and driving collaboration across interdisciplinary teams to ensure patients receive timely, coordinated, and appropriate care from admission through discharge and transition to the next level of care
  • The Corporate Director partners closely with hospital leaders, medical staff, behavioral health, care management, nursing, and operational teams to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality care management services aligned with regulatory standards, system goals, and the organization's mission
  • Strategic Leadership
    • Develop and execute systemwide strategies for inpatient care management and behavioral health crisis care management that align with Emory Healthcare's mission, vision, and values
    • Partner with hospital and system leaders to design and implement consistent, high-performing care management models
    • Lead integration of care management services across the continuum to improve patient flow, reduce length of stay, and enhance patient experience
    • Establish and maintain policies and standard work for care coordination, discharge planning, and behavioral health access
  • Program Oversight & Operations
    • Oversee inpatient care management operations at all hospitals, including RN and licensed social worker case management functions, throughput, discharge planning, and coordination of post-acute services
    • Provide executive oversight of Behavioral Health Crisis Care Management across emergency departments, ensuring timely psychiatric evaluations, adherence to regulatory requirements, and patient safety
    • Collaborate with data and quality teams to ensure performance metrics are defined, tracked, and acted upo
    • Ensure compliance with state, federal, and Joint Commission regulations
  • Leadership & Team Development
    • Provide leadership, mentorship, and direction to system and facility-level directors and managers of care management and behavioral health crisis teams
    • Promote professional development, staff engagement, and retention through ongoing education and performance feedback
    • Model a culture of collaboration, accountability, and service excellence
  • Quality, Safety & Process Improvement
    • Partner with Quality, Nursing, and Physician leadership to identify and address barriers to safe, efficient, and patient-centered care
    • Lead initiatives to improve care transitions, readmission rates, and discharge efficiency
    • Utilize data and analytics to identify trends, inform strategic planning, and measure succes
    • Drive adoption of technology and digital tools (e.g., Epic enhancements) that improve care coordination and communication
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
    • Build strong partnerships with physicians, nursing leadership, payors, and community partners to enhance coordination of care
    • Collaborate with ambulatory care management leaders to support transitions and continuity of care
    • Serve as a system liaison for Behavioral Health access and crisis management initiatives
    • Represent Care Management at system-level committees, councils, and workgroups
  • Performance Measurement
    • Monitor and report on systemwide key performance indicators including:
      • Assessment timeliness
      • Length of stay and avoidable days
      • Discharge delay reasons and interventions
      • Behavioral health assessment completion rates
      • Patient flow and throughput metrics
      • Staff engagement and turnover rates
