Job Description

Provide technical writing expertise to support the Office of Firearms and Tactical Programs (OFTP) in developing and delivering basic, advanced, and specialized training to certify customer personnel in law enforcement requirements.

• Evaluate training by observing, analyzing, reporting, and recommending improvements.
• Revises or writes standard material for reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, lesson plans, curriculum, and training-related documents.
• Organizes material and completes writing assignments according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
• Maintains records and files of work and revisions, drawings, and charts as needed to illustrate the material.
• Assists in laying out material for publication by typing, duplicating, and distributing of material.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science
• Experience in federal law enforcement training programs
• Ability to develop, and format lesson plans, curriculum, and related documents
• Ability to travel and spend to five (5) days a week each month at offsite locations
• Satisfactory completion of DHS background investigation, pre-employment screening, and other checks as state law requires.
