About the role

Conducts routine tests for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease and performs related duties following established standards and practices.

Performs according to established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
 

Graduate of accredited two year collegiate medical laboratory technician program. In lieu of minimum education requirements, extensive on-the-job training or military training in a clinical laboratory may be accepted. Extensive experience is defined as five years for military trained or on-the-job trainees hired. No experience required for two year graduates. Must be able to successfully pass ASCP Certification test within 6 months of hire or equivalent certification. Failure to pass will result in termination of employment.
 

Must demonstrate ability to recognize patients' individual needs based on medical conditions, age (infants, pediatrics, adolescents, young adults, middle aged, and geriatric) limitations and planned procedures.
