Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti.
As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be supporting the post award projects under Planning Design and Construction Branch of the Facilities and Engineering and Acquisition Division (FEAD). You will also be overseeing the design-build and design-bid-build electrical projects of varying complexity, up to and including the construction of a 27 MW electrical power plant, diesel generators, fuel farm, storage tanks and additional support facilities (P332/P334), for adherence to contract documents, provisions and applicable trade and safety standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Apply seasoned professional electrical engineering and construction knowledge to ensure contract quality standards are met
- Implement and enforce all applicable electrical engineering codes, including but not limited to National Electric Code (NEC), National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), Unified Facilities Criteria (UFCs), Facilities Criteria (FCs), Unified Facilities Guide Specifications (UFGSs) and the Whole Building Design Guide (WBDG)
- Conduct regular visits to project sites to review construction work is in compliance with the contract requirements including the design, quality, Unified Facilities Criteria, and safety requirements
- Attend meetings including but not limited to post-award kickoff meetings, weekly QC/Owners Meetings, Partnering Meetings, 3-Phases of Quality Control, and construction conferences
- Support the review/approval of government approved technical and administrative submittals including but not limited to material, equipment, contractor’s baseline and monthly schedule updates, test plans/reports, performance verification tests of major systems, etc. Work closely with the Construction Manager, Design Manager and Designer of Record
- Interpret design criteria with the using activity and other interested Government representatives
