Where the chemistry happens…

 

We are seeking a professional like you to ensure competitive advantage for our business units as a member of our professional procurement team.  You will be responsible for supporting the regional category of Nested Maintenance Services by sourcing maintenance services for half of our sites in North America.  You will support the Regional Category Manager in the development of category strategies and providing local market input related to supply and demand market dynamics. You will routinely engage with the associated business units and suppliers to align supplier capabilities with BASF strategic priorities and explore creative and strategic supply solutions for the assigned category. 

As a Regional Category Buyer, You Create Chemistry By...

 

  • Using your strong negotiation skills by steering negotiations with suppliers and internal business partners, being accountable for awarding and implementing contracts that provide a competitive advantage for BASF.
  • Using your experience working in cross-functional teams since it will be key as you work closely with business unit technical experts and site maintenance teams developing and implementing sourcing strategies for nested maintenance services.
  • Leading and managing the sourcing process (RFI, RFQ, RFP, etc.) for key strategic reimbursable contracts and complex negotiations to ensure a competitive advantage for BASF.
  • Demonstrating your strong customer focus, providing relationship management for key suppliers and internal stakeholders, which will include monitoring performance metrics, resolving claims and/or disputes, market intelligence, and other contributing factors affecting supply availability and pricing of services procured.
  • Conducting market intelligence research by interacting with key suppliers, industry associations, and internal stakeholders to collect industry relevant information and rationalizing to assess impact current and future to BASF.
  • Evaluating incoming commercial offers and supporting the bonus/penalty evaluation process. 

If you...

 

  • Have a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Engineering, Marketing, Business, Supply Chain, or a related field; an advanced degree is a plus.
  • Have a minimum of 3 years of professional experience in Procurement, Supply Chain, Engineering/Operations, Accounting and/or Sales and Marketing.
  • Have knowledge in strategy development and background in contracts and negotiations, being this a plus.
  • Have the ability to lead and influence others and demonstrate problem-solving skills with business value creation know-how. 
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to manage relationships with internal partners as well as suppliers. 
  • Are able to demonstrate a team-oriented attitude and being capable of working in a multi-task environment with ability to make and implement decisions with limited information
