Job Summary

Dominion Energy is looking for an Associate Gas Controller or Gas Controller to join our team in Cayce, SC. There is one position which will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 

Associate Gas Controller:

  •  This role utilizes the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system to monitor and control gas facilities by operating remote control valves, regulators and compressors and ensures that pipeline pressures stay within Maximum Allowable Operating Pressures (MAOP).
  • Analyzes transmission pipeline system and recommends operational changes in anticipation of changing requirements.
  • Analyzes gas control data and responds to SCADA alarms.
  • Adjust gas volumes and pressures to meet market requirements by considering forecasts and supply portfolios and storage plans.
  • Assist in the implementation of the daily operating plan to support the economic, efficient, and reliable operations of the gas system. Complies with all government regulations for Control Room and Alarm Management.
  • Responsible for ensuring emergency orders involving reports of gas leaks, odors of gas, damaged gas lines, ,etc.. are dispatched to appropriate field employees in a timely and accurate manner to meet Company, as well as state utility commission requirements. 
  • Creating emergency orders, answering emergency calls, and managing notifications of escalated incidents to management and operations personnel. 
  • Develop a professional working relationship with field personnel, pipeline contacts, and other departments that interact with Gas Control and Dispatch. 
  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

 
Gas Controller:

  •  This role utilizes the SCADA system to monitor and control gas facilities by operating remote control valves, regulators and compressors and ensure that pipeline pressures stay within Maximum Allowable Operating Pressures (MAOP).
  • Directs field personnel during pipeline repairs and outages and for the operation of the transmission, production, storage, and distribution facilities during normal, abnormal, and emergency situations.
  • Responds to SCADA alarms by adjusting pressures and flows as needed and notifying field personnel.
  • Analyzes gas control data and independently implements changes as needed to gas volumes and pressures to meet system demand. Implements the daily operating plan to support the economic, efficient, and reliable operations of the gas system.
  • Coordinates and directs the pipeline pigging operations for pipeline integrity and compliance.
  • Develops and maintains a professional working relationship with field personnel, pipeline contacts, and other departments that interact with Gas Control. Coordinates nominations with suppliers and storage partners.
  • Complies with all government regulations for Control Room and Alarm Management by maintaining records of gas control operations.
  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

 

Note:  There is a commute requirement of 60 minutes to 601 Old Taylor Road, Cayce, SC 29033. This position works a rotating schedule of 12- and 8-hour shifts.

  • Associate degree and 0 - 2 years directly related experience or equivale
