JOB TITLE: Senior Accountant 

LOCATION: Seattle, WA (Hybrid)

SALARY RANGE: $97,500 to $119,000. The midpoint of the range is $107,000. The ideal candidate would be hired at or around the midpoint.

ABOUT THE POSITION 

Aurion Biotech is a rapidly growing biotech startup focused on developing innovative cell therapies to treat ocular diseases. We are looking for a Senior Accountant who will be responsible for performing daily accounting operations as well as being a key participant in the monthly and quarterly preparation and distribution of financial statements for external and internal use. This position is responsible for supporting the monthly close process, including preparation of journal entries and monthly reconciliations, pursuant to generally accepted accounting principles. The person will also prepare documentation that complies with the company’s regulations and professional standards, including internal control, internal management reporting, supporting quarterly reviews and year-end audits and ad hoc projects. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Execution of month-end close process, including preparation of journal entries and monthly reconciliations. 
• Support the procure to pay process – execution of POs, ensure proper account coding and timely cash disbursements. 
• Work with outside vendors and employees regarding cash disbursements and expense classification. 
• Liaise with external auditors – responsible for preparation of workpapers (i.e. PBCs) and assist in the audit and review process (provide answers and support as needed for external auditors). 
• Supporting the documentation of technical accounting conclusions as well as the maintenance of the company’s accounting policies and operational manual. 
• Support compliance efforts related to Sarbanes Oxley – including implementation, execution, and monitoring of controls and systems. 
• Key participant in the monthly and quarterly internal and external reporting process - Ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting and assistance in the variance analysis to budget managers on a consistent basis.  
• Assist in the administration of payroll and associated payroll provider. 
• Support various local and state requirements (property tax, state filing fees, sales and use tax). 
• Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
