Department Overview

Envysion, a Motorola Solutions company, is a leading provider of enterprise video security and business analytics solutions for the quick-service restaurant and retail industries. Envysion's cloud-based solution integrates video systems with sales data to proactively identify potentially fraudulent transactions and optimize operations without the need to monitor hours of video footage. Our Engineering department is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our infrastructure team.

Responsibilities

 

• Enhancing our engineering practices, infrastructure and contributing to business objectives.

• Collaborating with cross-teams to translate business requirements into technology solutions.

• Troubleshoot network related issues within the cloud and platforms.

• Participating in software deployment life-cycles, from planning, designing, testing, implementations and maintenance.

• Support large scale SaaS solutions within Amazon Web Services through architecture/infrastructure guidance, troubleshooting and more.

• Communicating adequately via assorted mediums including video conferencing, meetings, chat and other types.

• Designing solutions using AWS managed solutions, event-driven architecture, serverless and container-based solutions.

• Acting as a trusted technical advisor for SaaS solutions within Amazon Web Services.

• Establishing modern DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines within GitHub.

• Strong CI/CD pipeline background using tools like source control, automated build/test and code quality scanning.

• Proficiency in overseeing multiple environments, spanning platforms (databases, operating systems, storage & load balancers).

• Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, capable of working with abstract concepts effectively.

• Excellent interpersonal skills to enable effective partnership and interaction with stakeholders.

• Self-starter with exceptional self-management abilities.

• Strategic thinker capable of defining technical direction for infrastructure.

• Robust communication skills targeting both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Collaborate with the teams to improve and to correct build errors using IaC based deployments.

• Propose and create system design models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to system programmers and development teams. 

• Detail-oriented individual with a drive to continuous improvement.

• Design and perform server and security audits, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes in accordance with the company’s disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.

• Gauge the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems; develop and implement strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.

• This position will require support outside of standard business hours to complete system upgrades and application deployments, as well as provide support for emergencies and outages. 

Preferred Knowledge & Experience 

• Strong Systems & DevOps skills (7+ years) including Linux, Networks, Security and other infrastructure.

• Hands-on experience (3+ years) with containerization and orchestration technologies.
